Sartori Valdimezzo Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore 2014

Aged in large oak cask. Despite the difficult vintage conditions, this 2014 ripasso has emerged well, offering the typical range of tart red fruit flavours - cherry and currant - with intriguing resinous herbal spice, nutty chestnut, old wood, cedar and other non-fruit character that adds interest. Tannins are soft and the palate is surprisingly generous and balanced, with a fine lick of acids to sharpen the finish. Tasted September 2016. Score - 88.
