Château Bellevue La Forêt 2014

A blend of 55% Négrette, 20% Syrah, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon that shows off the rustic meaty tones of Négrette nicely. Good depth and concentration, but with a seam of fresh acidity that keeps the overall mouthfeel lithe. Ripe dark fruit with complex notes of smoke, dried herbs, spice and fertile earth. This has the tannins for steak, but the vibrancy of the acidity makes it a versatile choice. Try with spiced sausage pastas or a beef stew. (Vintages panel, Jan. 2018)
